March 2026 Update
7 days ago – Thu, Mar 26, 2026 at 05:32:30 AM

Hi all,

Hope you're all doing well, and thank you all for waiting through a long hiatus. It's been a crazy few months at my day job, where my former boss fell very ill and I've taken on a sudden and somewhat chaotic promotion as a result. Things are stabilising now and I'm getting back to giving this project the time it deserves.

As of last update, I said that my priority was going to be sourcing more monster art for the digital book ahead of print. I've got several commissions active right now, including this recently finished one from Pianation. Some of these active commissions are for boss tier backer art, so expect to see the final two dungeons in the next release.

Kiba the Shiba, criminal mastermind and also a very fluffy dog

Once we've got the back of the book packed out with some more illustrations, we'll move to the printing phase! My current timeline suggests I should be ready to make this happen in May. Sorry that it has taken so long, but I do want to make sure that it's a good looking book that gets into everyone's hands. I will be doing monthly updates again going forward so I will speak to you all in April!

Thanks,

Duffo.

December Update
4 months ago – Tue, Dec 02, 2025 at 06:52:24 AM

Hi all!

The digital launch for the game has gone well - I've updated the files just today to add an extra piece of art and correct some text based on backer feedback. The game has received some longform reviews, video reviews, and has an official Roll20 character sheet!

One thing I've taken from the feedback is that while people are enjoying the game and the writing, the lack of art in the enemies section is being noted. We didn't reach the stretch goal for the additional art, but having reflected on what I want this final print book to look like to meet my own standards, I've decided that I'm going to need to extend my budget on this front. Itch sales have been helping to finance this, so please hold tight as I find a way to get some monsters into the game.

Curtis Willem McFoster, forklift driver and Hero of the Checkout realm.

The two heroes, two dungeons and one kingdom that remain outstanding are my top priority of course, and I look forward to being able to share the update with these included with you all. I had a lot of fun running this game for PAX patrons (I share some of the heroes I had at my tables here) and hope that those of you who have gotten the game to the table have enjoyed it as well.

Thanks,

Duffo.

Digital Edition Available!
6 months ago – Fri, Oct 10, 2025 at 07:29:21 AM

Hi everyone,

This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! Definitive Edition is now available on itch! All backers should have received a link from Backerkit to claim this through itch.io - if you have not received this link or are having trouble with it, please get in touch and I will do my best to help you.

This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! featuring a very cute Monster hero

As per my last update, there are still a couple more backer content additions to come. All Villain tier and the majority of Summoned Hero and Kingdom Lord tier rewards have been included in the game, but I need a little more time to get some outstanding art back and finish up the last of this. If you are one of the handful of backers affected, I am very sorry! The digital version of the game will be updated in the coming weeks to include these last few dungeons and characters.

Otherwise, I’ve been working hard to make sure this Definitive Edition of the game has heaps of enemies, adventure hooks, and fun character builds with abilities that have been playtested and fine-tuned to be the best that they can be. I’m proud of the work we’ve done and I hope you all have fun with it!

Thanks,

Nick.

October Update
6 months ago – Wed, Oct 01, 2025 at 04:51:26 PM

Hi all,

PAX Aus in Melbourne is only two weeks away - I'll be part of the PAX Aus at the Table team running sessions of This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th at the following times:

SATURDAY 11 OCT: 3-5pm, 7-9pm, 9-11pm

SUNDAY 12 OCT: 1-3pm, 3-5pm

This of course means that I need to have a new version out by then! I've decided that it's best to put out the roughly 80% of the backer content that is ready in this upcoming digital version, with the rest to come in an update before the print books are made. More art is also in the pipeline, including this cool Dungeon Boss art from ramvur666. I'll be hosting the new digital version on my itch page, with links for backers to claim their copies sent through Backerkit.

Kruk the Golden Wall - Orc Warlord and Dungeon Boss

International shipping has been a mess lately - Australia Post has been unable to send mail to the USA for several weeks due to their sudden new fee and tariff changes that were badly rolled out. Services will resume next week, but there's a big backlog for them to get through. I'm looking into US distribution partners who could help print and ship the copies going to US addresses, so I'll have more on that when I find a solution.

I appreciate your patience and look forward to you all seeing the new digital version next week!

Thanks,

Duffo.

August Update + PAX Melbourne Announcement
8 months ago – Sat, Aug 02, 2025 at 07:54:36 PM

Hello everyone!

Thanks for your patience between updates - I'm an arts and music festival organiser at my day job and it's been a massive crunch period for me putting a two-week festival on. My calendar is now clear for the next few months, so my full focus can be on the game from here on out!

The art portfolio has been progressing, but there have been significant delays to one of the major art pieces that is being done for the book. Unfortunately there's not a lot I can do except be patient and revise the timeline - we're now looking at a September print most likely.

Some good news: This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! has been accepted to PAX Aus at the Table for 2025, where I will be running 5 sessions of the game for PAX patrons! This will be in Melbourne at MCEC from 10-12 October. I also plan to work with the booksellers there to have print copies of This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! on sale at the event.

To finish the update, here is some new art from Satra of the summoned heroes for the book. Please enjoy!

Shun Okajima, the isekai merchant with the Gift of Commission
Megan the Finder, a hero who can locate rare books anywhere in the world just by knowing their title

Thanks,

Duffo.
